初期作品の通称UPSIDE DOWN から微改良進化した通称[U溝モデル]
意匠申請中1984〜1985年の僅かな期間に製造された記念すべきEYE2 Lデビュー作U溝アザーズペンドモデルとなります。

1982年EYE2発売後、時代の先駆者カーステンソルハイムはセットに組まれているS(57.7°)よりロフトあるクラブを開発、61°の追加アイテム【L-Wedge】と名付け発表。
使用頻度高くダメージ受けやすいウェッジの別売り単品販売を世界で初めて試みたのです。
業界、EYE2ファンはもとより世界中のゴルファーに一大センセーションを巻き起こし、今も現役で活躍しているロブショットの名手フィルミケルソンが愛してやまなかったと言われるこのEYE2 L-Wedge。
40年以上前製造と思えぬほど出来栄え秀逸、コアなファン手放すことなく稀に発見出来ても溝潰れやソール刻印消えるほど使い込まれた品ばかりで馴染みショップでもここ数年良品入荷はゼロ。
年を重ねれば良品減って行くビンテージの宿命ですが、芸術品EYE2の終焉呼ばれて久しく雑誌でしかお目に掛かれないこのLのアザーズペンドモデル、現在まで大切に保管しており希少価値と魅力をご理解頂けると嬉しく思います。　

余談
PING社はL-Wedge復活求める多くのリクエストに応え
2011年に[EYE2 XG] (エックスジー)
2014年には[EYE2 GORGE](ゴージ)
と形状を正確に再現し復刻版を発表。役目を終え製造販売終了していますが『ウェッジはEYE2でなければ』と言うプロやクラッシックファンに向け現行最新ウェッジソールにEYE2グラインドとして美しいデザイン継承。ピンのアイデンティティ、ブランド象徴として創設者カーステンソルハイムの理念と共に受け継がれています。
